1. (a) ALTAR SERVERS
Anyone (girls & boys) Grade 2 and up wishing to serve at Mass and
at special celebrations. Volunteers and our parish priest prepare the
students for this ministry.
(b) ALTAR SERVERS FOR FUNERALS
We need both MEN and WOMEN for this ministry. You are simply asked to
assist the priest at Mass. Previous experience would be beneficial but
not essential. A member of our group will help in your training. People
appreciate the support of their parish family at this particular time;
knowing that you give of yourself and taking the time to help in this
ministry can be very beneficial. Serving at Mass is a great privilege.
All interested persons are welcome. This is an especially good option
for retirees.
2. EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST
Extraordinary ministers assist the ordinary (ordained) ministers in the
distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ, at communion during Sunday
and weekday Masses and bring communion to the sick and shut-ins as required.
Adult men and women living a life of Christian faith may apply for this
ministry. Selection is made by the Pastor.
3. LECTORS
Readers proclaim the Word of God at Sunday and weekday Mass as well as
at other liturgical celebrations of the parish community throughout the
Church year. Articulate men and women who are confirmed and living a life
of faith, which enables them to proclaim the Word with reverence and conviction,
are welcome.
4. OFFERTORY GIFT BEARERS
This represents the symbolic enhancement of congregational participation
in the Eucharistic liturgy through the procession of the gifts of the
people, the fruits of their labours; bread, wine and the offertory collection.
Individuals, couples or families are welcome to approach an usher before
each Mass.
5. USHERS
In practice the duties of the Usher extend beyond simply finding seats
for those who require them. Being available a few minutes before the commencement
of Mass is a sacrifice of personal time. Those encouraged into this Ministry
are adult ladies and gentlemen who are outgoing, vigilant, tactful and
sincere enough about their commitment to offer their services when they
are required. |
